One property is free, with the whole map, every reminder, the register, the contacts and the ledger. Plus is NZ$89 a year or NZ$8 a month, charged in New Zealand dollars with your card converting it anywhere else, and it adds three things: more places, more people, and paper.
The numbers here are the ones on the pricing table, said again with what each one is for.
More than one place
Plus takes you from one property to ten. The home, the bach, the block, a rental and a parent's place is five, which is about the most anybody has turned up with.
You are never charged again per property. Ten is a ceiling rather than a limit anyone is expected to meet, and if you have more than that, say so and it goes up.
More than one person
On the free plan the property is yours alone. Plus lets you invite up to ten people onto each one, as owner, editor or viewer, and then narrow what each of them sees: the money, things you have marked private, which kinds of thing at all, whose work, and your contacts. So the groundskeeper gets the run of the place without the finances, a contractor sees their part and nothing else, and an accountant can be given every cost while being shown no assets at all. Who sees what has the whole of it.
Being invited onto somebody else's property costs you nothing and does not use up your own free property. The person who owns the property is the one paying for it.
On paper
The four documents are Plus. A brief for a job, with the map, the photos of the fault and what has been done before, and no prices on it. A brief for one thing. A dated register of the whole place, which is what an insurer asks for after a fire and almost nobody has. And the map as you are looking at it, A4 or A3, with every area named, for the wall. What you can hand somebody describes each one.
The spreadsheet behind the register is free on every plan, and its button sits beside the locked one so you can see that it is.
The tax-year report
Say once which things earn income and which are private, and everything fitted to them follows. At tax time the year comes out already split into what earns, what needs apportioning and what is private. The spreadsheet of that is free on every plan. The laid-out PDF for the accountant is Plus. Tax time explains the split.
Recent satellite imagery
In New Zealand the aerial photo under the map comes from LINZ, free, and in the country it can be a few years old. Elsewhere the free map is Outdoor, a drawn map of the whole world, and the satellite layer is the photo. Plus adds a satellite layer that is flown more often, as another choice in the map's layers panel, for when the shed in the photo is not the shed that is there now.
It is for looking at. In New Zealand the printed map is always drawn on the LINZ aerial, and the print panel says so before you press. Outside New Zealand the map does not go on paper yet; the briefs and the register do, with the place drawn on white.
Room for the manuals and photos
Free is 100 MB of photos and files, which is plenty for nameplates and a few manuals. Plus is 5 GB: every manual, the invoices, and the before-and-after photos of every job. On either plan a photo needs a connection to upload, and the app holds it on your phone until there is one.
Plate lookups
In New Zealand, type a plate and the make, model and year arrive, with the WOF and rego expiry as two reminders. Elsewhere there is no lookup: you type the vehicle in, and its inspection and registration dates are yours to set. Each lookup costs us money, so they are counted: two in total on the free plan, which is enough to see it work, and ten a year on Plus.
What stays free, on every plan
One property. The whole map, with the boundary from LINZ in New Zealand or drawn by you anywhere else, and the pins, runs and shapes you draw or walk. The register and every record on it. Reminders and the notifications they send. Contacts. The ledger. Working with no signal. And getting everything you put in back out, as a spreadsheet or as GeoJSON.
None of that is fenced, and none of it will be. The app is worth having with one property and nothing on paper. Plus is for the day you need a second one, a second person, or a sheet of A4.
If you stop paying
Nothing is deleted and nothing is locked away. You keep full access to one property. Any extra properties, and the access you gave other people, become read only, so a register somebody helped build is still there for them to read. Export keeps working, including after a lapse.
Cancelling stops the next payment rather than refunding the one you are in, so Plus runs until the date you have paid up to.
How you pay
Yearly or monthly, in New Zealand dollars, which your card converts if you are anywhere else, through Stripe, from Settings in the web app rather than inside the phone app. It renews until you cancel, which you can do any time from the same place. The price at checkout is the price you pay, and if it ever changes you will be told first and it only takes effect at a renewal. The terms say the same in full.
Twelve months at NZ$8 is NZ$96 against NZ$89 for the year, so yearly is for keeping it and monthly is for a season.
Questions
If something on this page is not what you see in the app, the app is right and this page needs fixing: say so on the contact page. The app's own help covers the same features with the buttons in front of you.
